Just a mere two years ago, these Northern Ugandans were living in constant fear and deprivation in refugee camps that the United Nations called “the most neglected humanitarian emergency in the world”. It is hard to believe that this horrible, bloody, ruthless war was happening on the other side of the world, when we never saw it on the news.
Fortunately, our Aid Africa founder, Ken Goyer, was taken to these camps on a Rotary trip, and he decided to dedicate the rest of his life to helping these people (which he did, until he passed away May 2010). And now, we are even more determined to continue Ken’s humanitarian aid to the poorest of the poor in Northern Uganda.
We helped deliver these avocado trees (3 per family) to the new villages that we are supporting in the Gulu area last October. Not only will the trees provide nourishment, but Aid Africa’s help is bringing the more important gift of HOPE to people who had given up not that long ago.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, for helping us bring HOPE to the people in Northern Uganda. To learn more about our mission and vision, click here.
